Its population was 2,213 at the 2020 census, and the city was incorporated on June 26, 1914. Fishing, shellfish harvesting, seafood processing, and tourism have long anchored the local economy. The Westport Marina is the defining feature of the community. It is the largest marina on the outer coast of the Pacific Northwest, with moorage for hundreds of charter, commercial, and sportfishing vessels, and it supports one of the largest charter fishing fleets on the West Coast. Anglers come for salmon and bottomfish, while Dungeness crab and razor clams are regional staples available fresh from local boats and markets. Recreation centers on the coast. The city lies about 25 miles from Aberdeen via State Route 105, which provides the main road connection to the broader Grays Harbor region.
