Pacific County Beach Community
Townhouses & Duplexes in Seaview, WA
Welcome to Seaview, a quiet Pacific shore community of Victorian cottages and tree-lined streets on Washington's Long Beach Peninsula.
Seaview is an unincorporated community in Pacific County, Washington, occupying the southern stretch of the Long Beach Peninsula in the state's far southwest corner. The peninsula is a narrow ribbon of land between the Pacific Ocean on the west and Willapa Bay on the east, and Seaview sits a few minutes south of the larger resort town of Long Beach and just north of Ilwaco. Its position near the mouth of the Columbia River places it within easy reach of both the Washington and Oregon coasts. Seaview began as a deliberate summer resort. Jonathan Stout, a cooper from Ohio, arrived on the peninsula in 1859 and in 1880 bought 153 acres along the oceanfront with plans for a seasonal community. The development drew well-to-do Portland families, and many of the Victorian houses built for that summer trade still stand along the community's quiet, tree-lined streets. That early resort character continues to define the place: modest cottages, historic homes, and a small cluster of lodgings and restaurants near the beach. Unlike the more commercialized towns to the north, Seaview has remained small. Its permanent population is only a few hundred, and its identity centers on the beach, the nearby state park, and the slower rhythm of a second-home and getaway community. Residents and visitors share a compact strip of amenities, from cottage-style inns to casual eateries, while Long Beach and Ilwaco supply the peninsula's grocery stores, galleries, and services. The surrounding landscape is the community's main draw. Cape Disappointment State Park, with its lighthouses, forest trails, and clamming beaches, lies just west and south, and the Long Beach Peninsula's wide, firm sands stretch north for miles. For those seeking a Pacific Northwest beach setting with historic character and without high-rise development, Seaview offers a relaxed alternative.
