Snoqualmie Valley Mountain Town

Apartments in North Bend, WA

Welcome to North Bend, a Snoqualmie Valley city at the foot of Mount Si, known for its outdoor access and its role as the real-world Twin Peaks.

North Bend is a city in King County, Washington, set in the upper Snoqualmie Valley about thirty miles east of Seattle along the Interstate 90 corridor. It lies between the South Fork and Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie River, in a landscape long known as the Snoqualmie Prairie, and it sits near the geographic center of King County within the Mountains to Sound Greenway. The neighboring city of Snoqualmie borders it to the northwest. The city's defining landmark is Mount Si, the prominent peak that rises above town and ranks among the most-climbed mountains in Washington. Mount Si was named for Josiah "Uncle Si" Merritt, an early settler who died in 1882. North Bend itself grew as a railroad, logging, and farming community in the late nineteenth century, and it has since evolved into a residential and outdoor-recreation hub for the Eastside. Today North Bend is home to roughly 8,500 residents. Its recreation is anchored by Mount Si, Rattlesnake Ledge, Twin Falls, and the Snoqualmie Valley Regional Trail, a 31.5-mile path that connects the city to Rattlesnake Lake and the cross-state Palouse to Cascades State Park Trail. The city is also known as a filming location for the television series Twin Peaks, and Twede's Cafe still operates as the real-life counterpart of the show's Double R Diner. The city's character has shifted with its growth. Once a quiet rail and farm town, North Bend now balances a historic downtown with newer residential neighborhoods and a regional outlet mall, while its identity remains firmly tied to the mountains. The Snoqualmie Valley's farms, the river, and the surrounding public forests give the city a setting that feels far more rural than its distance from Seattle suggests. North Bend is served by the Snoqualmie Valley School District. For homebuyers, it offers mountain views, trail access, and a genuine valley-town atmosphere within commuting distance of Seattle and the Eastside employment centers.
