Snoqualmie Valley River Town
Apartments in Fall City, WA
Welcome to Fall City, a King County community at the meeting of the Snoqualmie and Raging rivers, just downstream of Snoqualmie Falls and east of Seattle.
Fall City is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in King County, Washington, about 25 miles east of Seattle in the Snoqualmie Valley. It sits where the Raging River joins the Snoqualmie River, a meeting of waterways that defined the community from the start. The 2020 census counted 2,032 residents, but the town retains the scale and character of its river-town past, with a concentration of historic landmarks unusual for an unincorporated area. The community's origins reach back to the 1860s, when traders established a post at "The Landing," the spot on the Snoqualmie River beyond which the water was no longer passable. A post office opened in 1872, and the town was platted by early settler Jeremiah Borst. Fall City grew with the arrival of the railroad and, later, the highway over Snoqualmie Pass, cementing its role as a stopping point on the route between Seattle and the mountains. Just upstream, the 268-foot Snoqualmie Falls became — and remains — one of Washington's most visited scenic attractions, drawing visitors to the valley and lending the area an enduring tourism tie. Today Fall City is a gateway between the Seattle metro area and the Cascade foothills. State Routes 202 and 203 meet in the community, connecting it west toward Redmond and the Eastside, north toward Duvall and Monroe, and east toward Snoqualmie and the pass. The Snoqualmie Valley School District serves local students, with Fall City Elementary in the heart of town. The area's riverside setting, farmland, and forested hills give it a distinctly rural feel, and a small private airport sits just east of town. Fall City appeals to those who want Snoqualmie Valley living with river access and a reasonable commute to the Eastside tech corridor.
