Davenport is the county seat and largest city of Lincoln County, Washington, a sparsely populated county in the eastern part of the state that was created in 1883 and named for Abraham Lincoln. The city sits on U.S. Route 2 in the northern wheat belt of the Columbia Basin, roughly 35 miles west of Spokane, and anchors a landscape of rolling, dryland wheat farms that define the regional economy. The 2020 census counted 1,703 residents, while Lincoln County as a whole has just under 11,000 people. Agriculture is the foundation of life here.
